Films and series

Your video library, under Video on demand > Films and series: the films and series subscribers watch on demand, with their links, pictures and details. Mintrix keeps them in step with Ministra.

Mintrix keeps a catalogue and the links. The video files stay on your own streaming servers or CDN: Mintrix does not store, upload or transcode them.

Categories and genres

CategoryGroups films and series on the box (Video on demand > Categories)
GenreBelongs to one category; its name is unique within it. A title has at most four genres, of its own category

A film

Add > Film opens the film form, in steps:

  1. Film: the name and original name, the year and running time, the category and up to four of its genres, and four switches: Enabled, Censored (locked behind the parental code), HD and 4K (a mark on the box).
  2. Details: the plot, director, country and cast, the rating, the age rating and MPAA rating, and the TMDB id.
  3. Pictures: the poster (PNG or JPEG, at most 5 MB), a backdrop for the apps, and a title logo: the name as a transparent picture, shown on boxes in place of the name.
  4. Links: where the film plays from, each with its quality, and its subtitles.

Boxes get every picture at the size they draw it, so a MAG 254 opens Movies quickly. The panel keeps each picture as it was uploaded.

A link is a URL with its quality (240p to 4K). Like a channel's stream, it can carry a temporary link that the streaming server checks (Flussonic, nginx, Wowza and others).

Temporary links and Mintrix's MAG app

Mintrix's MAG app plays only plain links for now. Give titles with a temporary link a plain link as well.

A series

Add > Series creates a series: the same details and pictures as a film, then its seasons, each with its episodes, and each episode with its own links and subtitles. Series are saved in Ministra first, like films, and series made in Ministra come over with their seasons and episodes.

The list has a Type column, and All / Films / Series to show one kind.

From TMDB

With a TMDB API key under Settings > Video on demand, Find on TMDB in the form fills a film or series from themoviedb.org: plot, cast, year, rating, genres, the poster, the backdrop and the title logo. For a series, a season's episodes come at a click. Refresh from TMDB fills an existing title again.

  • TMDB is asked only when you search or refresh, never on its own. Every field stays editable.
  • Genres are matched to the category's genres by name.
  • Language (Settings > Video on demand) is the language of plots, titles and genres; where TMDB has none, it answers in English. Its country gives the age rating.
  • The key is a v3 API key or a v4 read access token from themoviedb.org > Settings > API. Mintrix keeps it encrypted.

Import from an M3U playlist

Import M3U adds films from a playlist:

  • each entry becomes a film with its URL as its link; entries with the same name become one film with several links;
  • a year in brackets at the end of a name, as in Dune (2021), becomes the film's year;
  • group-title picks the category;
  • Posters downloads each entry's tvg-logo as its poster;
  • Details from TMDB looks each new film up on TMDB by name and year, for its plot, people, ratings, genres, a backdrop, and its poster when the playlist has none;
  • films that already exist (by name and year) are skipped, or get the playlist's links.

The import runs in the background; you can close the window. Each film is saved in Ministra first, and what failed or went in without something is listed.

Which titles a device gets

Video packages (Tariffs > Service Packages) hold films and series, picked one by one or as the whole catalogue. A device gets the switched-on titles of the video packages its plan includes. See Tariff plans and packages.

Kept in step with Ministra

Films, series, categories and genres are synced both ways: saved in Mintrix they go to Ministra first; changed in Ministra they come back by themselves. The last change wins. A film's backdrop, title logo and 4K mark exist only in Mintrix.
