Updates and channels
A licence includes every release of its product while it is active. Releases come from NewIQ's own registry, registry.newiq.pl, which a server reaches with its activation's login.
Stable and beta
| Channel | Gets |
|---|---|
| stable | Releases such as 1.4.0 |
| beta | Prereleases such as 0.1.0-beta.4, to try what comes next |
A server installed from a beta is on the beta channel; one installed from a stable release on stable. NewIQ emails your account when a stable release is offered; choose which emails you get under Account.
The install commands
| Command | Installs |
|---|---|
curl -fsSL https://get.newiq.pl/<product> | sudo bash | The newest stable release |
curl -fsSL https://get.newiq.pl/<product>/<version> | sudo bash | That version, a beta too |
<product> is flowtrix or mintrix. Each release carries its own installer, which installs that version. Open the address in a browser to read it first.
How a release reaches a server
- NewIQ publishes the release; NewIQ License copies its images into the registry by digest.
- Each server's next daily check-in names it when it is newer than the version running.
- The server shows it and installs it when an admin asks. Flowtrix also installs a security release by itself unless that is turned off; Mintrix marks it on the dashboard.
Images are always pulled by their digest and checked after pulling, so a server runs exactly what was released. If a new version does not come up, the version before is put back.
A withdrawn release is no longer offered or installed; servers already running it are left alone.
Each product: Flowtrix updates, Mintrix updates.
