Update

sh
sudo mintrix-update # the newest release
sudo mintrix-update --version 0.1.2 # a given version, also to go back

An update:

  • backs up the database to /opt/mintrix/mysql_backups/ first;
  • downloads the new version's images by digest, and keeps the Ministra you have: Ministra and Mintrix's MAG app are updated on their own (see Update and settings and Updating boxes);
  • keeps .env;
  • replaces compose.yaml (keep your changes elsewhere, see Your own changes);
  • puts the previous version and its backup back when the new one does not start.

Updates use the server's activation and ask for nothing.

From the panel

On servers with systemd, administrators can update in Mintrix: Settings > System Update > Update now, or Schedule. The same page has the set-top box app's card. It runs the same update, as root, through the mintrix-updater service the installer sets up; Mintrix itself never gets root. Check it with systemctl status mintrix-updater.path; the log of the last update is /opt/mintrix/runtime/update/update.log.

Mintrix checks for new releases on its update channel, stable or beta (see Updates and channels). The dashboard shows when one is available, and marks a security release.

Going back

Going back to an older version does not undo its database changes. Restore the backup taken before the update. See Backups.

What changed in each version is shown under Settings > System Update.
