Servers, domains and keys
A licence runs on as many servers as its plan allows, each activated for the licence's domain. You manage them under Licences in the client area.
Activate a server
Run the product's installer with the licence key and the domain: Flowtrix, Mintrix. The first activation ties the licence to that domain, given as a host name only (tv.example.com), never an IP address.
The server keeps its activation, not the key: you need the key again only to activate another server or licence.
Move to another domain
- In the client area, open the licence and choose Move to another domain. Its domain is cleared and its servers are deactivated.
- Run the installer on the server with the new domain.
For Mintrix, see also Move to another domain.
Move to another server
Deactivate the old server in the client area (or keep it while you move, if the plan has a free server), then install on the new one with the key. To keep Mintrix's data, see Move to a new server.
A new key
Reissue key makes a new key and the old one stops working for new activations. Servers already activated keep running.
How often
So that one licence does not hop between servers, owners and technical users may, per licence, in any 30 days:
| By default | |
|---|---|
| Reissue the key | 3 times |
| Deactivate a server | 3 times |
| Move to another domain | 2 times |
A plan may allow more. At the limit the client area says when you can again. Need it sooner? Open a ticket: NewIQ staff are not limited.
Copies of a server
An activation belongs to one installation. When a copy of it (a cloned disk, a restored snapshot) renews the licence, the copy takes the activation and the original stops renewing, with "Another copy of this server renewed".
To take it back, run the installer again on the server that should keep it, with the key or, for Flowtrix, pressing Enter to keep the activation. The other copy then stops renewing.
