VOD libraries
A library is a folder of films or series under the storage root. Add libraries under VOD; a new disk needs no file edited. A library named "VOD" at vod/ is made at the first start. Removing a library forgets it; its files stay.
Put films in a library
Admins and operators can, in the library's page:
- Upload a file, in chunks: a broken connection resumes where it stopped, and a half-sent film never shows or plays.
- Fetch a file from an
http(s)://address. Addresses of this server and its private network are refused, unlessFLOWTRIX_FETCH_PRIVATE=true(a NAS on your LAN). - Make folders, rename, move and delete.
Series are found by S01E02 or 1x02 in the file name. Each file's page shows what it carries (codecs, picture, audio and subtitle tracks), a still and a player. Every change is logged with who made it.
How films play
| Address | Plays |
|---|---|
/vod/{library}/{file}?token=… | The file as it is |
/vod/{library}/{file}/index.m3u8?token=… | HLS: the video and the first audio track |
/vod/{library}/{file}/master.m3u8?token=… | HLS with every audio track |
/vod/{library}/{file}/manifest.mpd?token=… | DASH with every audio track |
HLS and DASH are packaged from the file as it is asked for: nothing is converted or stored beside it. They work for MP4, M4V and MOV; other files play as files only. A token signed for the file's folder plays all of them. See Play addresses.
Where films are kept
In a Docker volume, unless FLOWTRIX_STORAGE in .env names a folder on the host, such as /mnt/media with disks mounted under it. The folder must belong to uid 10001, which Flowtrix runs as:
sh
sudo chown -R 10001:10001 /mnt/mediaA disk mounted there after Flowtrix started shows after sudo docker compose up -d in /opt/flowtrix. VOD needs the vod feature in your plan.
